As we wind down towards the holidays and the end of yet another year, it is time for me to discuss next year's changes. Each year, I change my business handle a bit. Last year, for example, I decided to stop selling regular runs due to the fact that I still have regular runs that hadn't sold, since I'm technically competing with all the other dealers out there and even Breyer, as all of Breyer's regular runs are also available on their website. If I offered the same free shipping on $50+ worth of items, plus the costs of packaging and actual shipping, I'd be making about $5-10 per model, less if it sold through eBay and I had to pay fees as well.
My big announcement is that over the next few months I will be selling my personal collection on eBay. Wait... before I get a bunch of messages asking me why I would do such a thing after collecting since the early 2000s, let me explain. In 2009, I did the same thing. I had only collected racehorses at the time. Eventually I got tired of the bays, blacks and chestnuts with very few grays. In other words, the common colors. I'm starting to feel the same about my collection now. Looking at the same models day in and day out is getting a bit boring. I need some, I guess, fresh blood in my herd. Er... fresh plastic, I should say. I'm only keeping a few congas but the rest I'm going to try to find homes for. The lists of congas I plan on keeping is on my Collection page. Again, these will only be for sale on eBay, and the reason is because I want them sold off rather quickly. Due to the limited traffic to my website as compared to eBay, (screenname gbmodelponies if the link doesn't work) the fact that not all my models are wanted by those who visit my website, I feel they would sit for a while before actually selling. If you'd like to check out my collection, please feel free to visit my eBay page. There are some rarities, although the majority are admittedly the regular runs I've been left with from when I was a dealer. To clarify a final time, I will not be getting out of Breyers completely, just re-evaluating my collection. I will continue purchasing the club memberships each year, except that I'll probably be selling more than I will be collecting, so if you don't end up getting a certain membership, check back upon the release of that model to see if I'll be selling it or not. Also, as stated earlier in the year, I will continue doing Breyerfest pickups for 2024. My biggest change, however, is that I'll be selling customs regularly. 100% of the profit from my artwork will be going towards my small horse rescue. I will continue to try to come up with other ideas to keep traffic to my website as time goes on, possibly selling other horse related stuff like jewelry or soaps with mini whinnies in them in future to keep a steady supply of products in my store year round. I would sincerely like to thank you all for being loyal customers and followers of my blog. It takes me a lot of hours to keep it up and running, and I do it for free without ads to keep everyone in the know about Breyer releases. I appreciate your support!
