Hello, fans! I have some exciting news for those of you who haven't heard about them yet. If you bought Patriot, the flagship dealer special run from last year, you will probably want this upcoming flagship model. This horse's name is Liberty. He is on the popular Silver mold and is limited to only 3,000 pieces. He reminds me of Twill from Breyerfest 2013 with the wedgewood blue coloring and the denim jean pattern. I believe Breyer is trying to do a new series with the Americana pattern. Another recent release to Collector Club members only was Scotty. Apparently last year at Breyerfest in the Collector Club tent they had members vote on which color of the Swaps mold they liked the most. The colors were replicas of colors done on rare horses in the past. For example: The glossy dark bay tobiano Scotty is supposed to represent Jazz Fusion, the connoisseur model done on the Cleveland Bay mold in 2007 that was limited to 350 pieces. The pattern is ok but this horse has more white on it than I like to see. The dun with a bald face and dappling was supposed to represent Fandango. Fandango was the rarest model of all the horses these Classics represented. He was a Breyerfest Live Show prize made on the Andalusian mold in 2004 and there were only 5 models made. I liked this horse second best. Now this horse was my personal favorite. This stunning bay roan blanket appaloosa Scotty was portrayed to represent Burbank, who was a special run made on the Nokota mold for the Velvet Rope Event in 2008. He was limited to only 100 pieces. Many of you probably know who this horse is, some of you may even have him, as he wasn't as rare as the other models. This horse is portrayed after Uncalled For, the glossy red silver bay made on the Strapless mold in 2005. He was a Collector's Choice edition that was limited to a 6 month production. Frankly I'm not really fond of the color of this one because I think the mane/tail should be more of a silvery grey than white, but he would make a great mini me if you already own the original traditional. In the end, three of them ended up winning the votes. According to Breyer, the votes were so close that they decided to offer a gambler's choice of them. In other words, you don't know which one you're going to get. I bought one because gambler's choices always excited me and I thought he was a good price. Scotty was limited to one per Collector Club member while supplies lasted so I'm not sure how many they ended up making, but probably not that many. If you're not a part of the Collector Club but would like to purchase Scotty, try checking eBay or Model Horse Sales Pages within the next few weeks.
Update: I received my Scotty today and I'm so pleased that I received the one that I wanted! I'm a sucker for roans and was hoping that I'd get the bay roan appaloosa. What is even more exciting is that I thought it was matte but apparently it is semi-gloss and the speckles are a beautiful additive, as I could not see that from the pictures. I'm very happy with this purchase! He is definitely a looker! Since the beginning of Breyerfest, there was always a traditional sized celebration model for Breyerfest attendees. It wasn't until 2004 when Breyer began offering stablemates sized models for single day ticket holders, and it wasn't until 2011 when they began offering a gambler's choice of four stablemates models each year for single day tickets. Here is the lineup of stablemates models from 2011 until present.
Now that April is here, the Breyerfest special runs have been released! If you're as excited as I am about them you can view them on my Youtube channel. Another recent release is the elusive special run, second in America the Beautiful series available by lottery only to Collector Club members. Limited to only 350 models, Wailua was a beautiful dappled grey on the Legionario mold. Personally I don't collect the lottery models because they are too much for my budget, but to be honest it was hard not to enter for Rainier. I'm a sucker for roans and the Othello mold... The Stablemates Club second release for 2017 is now available for purchase. I'm glad to see that this horse was a solid color after a horde of pintos, but bay, to me, is kind of a plain color. Zahrat is supposed to be dappled, although his dapples are hard to see in the pictures. I'm really hoping that this guy looks better in real life than he does from the images. Update: Zahrat arrived today and he is much better in person than in the pictures. My only complaint, and it is minimal at that, is that one side is generously dappled while the other side is only sparsely dappled. Other than that he is truly nice with no factory flaws that I could see and is probably one of my best models.
