The new, upcoming regular runs for 2018 have been released! I have to say that after a few years of plain, unexciting breeds and colors, the horses this coming year are really something special. There are quite a few that I'm personally interested in. Anything looks great on the Ashquar mold, even plain bay coloring. I think the bridle is a nice added touch. His name is Empress. We've been waiting, and waiting, and impatiently waiting for Breyer to release California Chrome. Many collectors have asked for him... and Breyer delivered! His beautiful portrait model was made on the Cigar mold. I'm not big on western sports, but I have to admit that the coloring of Latigo Dun It might just be too good to pass up. What a beautiful silver dapple he is! I'm planning on putting him on my list. He is on the Smart Chic Olena mold. This little guy, made on the Newsworthy mold, is EZ to Spot. He is a leopard appaloosa Pony of the Americas. This guy is a light dapple grey Shire (no particular portrait model) on the Shire Gelding mold. If you missed your chance at Vahana at Breyerfest or Markus the flagship model, here is your chance to own a model on this popular new mold. If you collect unicorns, here is another one to add to your collection. This is Zena and she would be perfect as a mate for Xavier, or if you bought Rosalind and Rigel. The Let's Go Riding sets are back! This is the new Let's Go Riding - English set. This one includes a pinto on the Big Ben mold. Also comes with the rider and tack. This is the new Let's Go Riding - Western set. It comes with a beautiful palomino on the Friesian mold. My first thought was that the horse looked like a Welsh Cob, or maybe a Haflinger. Also comes with the doll and tack. This little one on the Running Foal mold is the newest in the Foal Collection lineup. He is a cute-as-a-button buckskin blanket appaloosa. With this set, the foals came with a blanket and a bracelet. This cutie on the Clydesdale foal mold is also a part of the Foal Collection. She is black with sabino markings. She also came with a blanket and a bracelet. The spring 2018 flagship horse has been revealed. Her name is Kodi and she is a stunning Paint horse on the popular Roxy mold.
For Collector Club members only, it's time for the CC Appreciation special! The first year they did this deal they offered a free random colored AQHA model, with select few getting a glossy grullo. The next year they offered glossy Classics sized models. This year was very special, although the price did go up. This year, you are guaranteed a glossy traditional sized model but you have to spend at least $125 on regular runs. You can get either a glossy Wall Street donkey, glossy Bandera, glossy Jake or glossy blue Liberty decorator. Which one you get will be a complete surprise, and they are only making 125 each of them, making them extremely rare. If you're a CC member and have been putting off buying any RRs, now is the time to put your money to good use because I can almost guarantee that these models (which Breyer claims are only worth $74.99) will be worth at least $125 on the second hand market!
Whatever kind of holiday you celebrate around the season of Christmas, you can be assured that there are many Breyer goodies coming up! The kickstart to the month - besides the 25 days of Christmas Breyer does every year - is the special runs Eldora and Sol, a cow and calf Holstein pair with gold spots. They would go great if you were one of the lucky ones to be able to get Olaf last year. Available first to Collector Club members and then to everyone else, they are now sold out (they were limited to only 350 sets) so start looking for them on the second hand market if you're interested! Although not a Christmas release, I did want to mention that Mirado (the last horse in the 2017 Stablemates Club) is currently available. I'm indifferent about this horse. I thought he was a Mustang but it turns out he is actually an Andalusian cross, according to Breyer, so depending upon what he looks like in real life, I may or may not keep him. If you're interested in good deals, keep checking Breyer's website for their countdown to Christmas daily specials. If you're a Collector Club member, we're still expecting a Collector Club Appreciate deal coming up sometime this month (most likely with a glossy goodie) and, of course, the Christmas day horse! If you're not a Collector Club member, be sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming 2018 regular runs.
