After much speculation, the first horse in the Stablemates Club 2019 is... FIERO! As with Fletcher from last year, Breyer made us drool over the glossy version of Fiero when they posted him on the page where you joined the Stablemates Club. It wasn't until I received a holiday order that I found out (since I was a 2018 member you often get a rejoin invitation near the end of the year if you order something) that I he was going to be offered in either matte OR glossy. Unlike Fletcher, however, you weren't allowed to choose which you wanted... it was a gambler's choice... and it almost made me decide against joining the club this year. I was already hesitant about joining the club when they revealed that the silver bay Highland Pony, another color I don't currently have in my SM collection, was going to be part of the gambler's choice. Admittedly I wouldn't mind receiving any of the other horses that were part of the gambler's choice - the grey medicine hat, the cremello/pearlino appaloosa and the decorator - although I still hope to get the silver bay of them all.
However I already have the colors of the rest of the horses in the club. The palomino of Gwenevere isn't really unique other than the gloss and since I don't collect vintage molds I'm going to sell her once she's released. The bay pinto of the new TB mold looked too much like Coco, although I'll still probably keep him just because of the new mold. I didn't care for the grey appaloosa of Priscilla so she will also be sold once she's released. I still joined since there are potentially 4 out of 6 I might keep, depending upon what color the new WB mold is. Thankfully I did end up getting a glossy Fiero (or else I would have probably sold him too since I have enough chestnuts in my stablemates herd) because one of my kids ended up breaking the leg off of my original Mirado and I've been wanting another on that mold every since. I was hoping that Breyer would offer another horse on the Mirado mold, and they did through the Stablemates Club... Fiero. His blood red coloring had me in awe and the gloss just made him POP. If you're interested in either Gwenevere or Priscilla, look for my posts in the coming months! |
