I would first like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in my Black Friday week sale. I purchase models throughout the year just for this time of the year in hopes of finding them new homes, but I need to know what's going to sell and what's going to sit, so I'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Would anyone be interested in buying vintage models or is everyone mostly just into the newer molds? Please comment so I can plan for next year. Those who placed orders during this sale, I have started packaging your models and will begin sending tracking numbers tomorrow. I plan on shipping either Monday or Tuesday. Those of you in the Collector Club... you should have received your November newsletter by now. If not, well, you've come to the right place! The giveaway for this month is the 2022 holiday horse, Snowbird. The articles this month were about the Ponies & Palm Trees event, which led to an article about polo ponies in Breyer models, and also an article about the Tractor Supply special runs. This is the sneak peek for the month: Not surprisingly it's the winter decorator lottery model, but the mold is a big secret. Many are speculating Hamilton due to the alignment of the ribcage in the picture. There is usually a lottery animal too which is drawn for about the same time as the winter deco, both before the Santa Surprise on Christmas day. I don't collect the decos so I won't be entering for these, but if it is Hamilton, I suspect he'll look pretty snazzy in silver filigree!
Just a heads up... my workplace is calling for overtime for the month of December to keep up with shipping demand. I will be working 60 hours a week so please be patient if you need to contact me. If you purchase anything from my store during this time, I will only be able to ship on Mondays, therefore if you order on a Friday, it will not be shipped until Monday. Things should settle down by the end of the month. I am making an announcement some time during December about some changes to my business plans next year. I may also offer a Cyber Monday discount for the remaining items in my store, as I still have quite a bit left. Stay tuned if you're interested :) Breyer must have just received another container because they're releasing a boat load of new releases this week. With Black Friday just around the corner, couldn't they have waited until early December? Ugh... Anyways tomorrow at noon EST Breyer is releasing their annual holiday blind bag series, Merry and Bright stablemates. They are all new molds in color shifting decorator colors. I don't have any of the holiday stablemates because I'm not big on decos but I have to say that of all the previous holiday blind bags, this one is probably the best so far. At least we don't have yet another Alborozo unicorn thrown in there. The elusive Chadwick is finally making his appearance as well. If you would like to order him, he will be available to Collector Club members only on Wednesday at noon EST. This guy I do plan to order, as I've been waiting to add him to my conga since I saw him at Breyerfest. Hoping I'm able to snag one before he sells out. If you're a Vintage Club member, your wallet is going to be over $200 lighter alone. Poppy and Ollie has been released (mine is still available in my store and has been discounted for my Black Friday week sale) and must be ordered by December 5th. In addition, if you plan on staying in the club next year, you have to dish out another $100 to renew, also by the same date. After that, memberships will be available either until December 31st or sell out. Word of mouth is that Justin Morgan will be one of the molds used in next year's club because of this picture in JAH: Remember they are increasing the club memberships to 1,000 from 750 for 2023 so quite a few more memberships will be open for those who would like to join the club themselves, although I'm expecting they'll still sell out pretty quickly.
Tickets for Breyer West went on sale today. This is a yearly event done in February each year for our western friends that can't attend Breyerfest but would like to participate in model pony related activities, including stablemate painting for the little ones and seminars for the adults. They usually have a glossy version of a previously released model available at the event (this year is glossy Chardonnay shown below) but no special runs, unlike at Breyerfest. However, some of the Breyerfest special runs are shown at Breyer West so we get our first in-hand glimpse of them from the people that attend through social media. The event will take place in Denver, Colorado from February 24-26, 2023.
I had to do a bunch of training at the shipping company I work for in preparation for the upcoming holiday rush (that will eventually end up in overtime) so you can only imagine how happy I was to find out that I had a little something come in the mail that I've been waiting on for almost a year now... Ellington! Though he may be small, he brightened my day with his adorable subtle dappling and glossy goodness. Apparently Breyer is also still using the drawstring bags for Deluxe stablemates and it has his name/silhouette embroidered on it. I really miss those through the Stablemate Club. The mare and foal sets for the Vintage Club this year have been leaked. You will get one of three sets: alabaster based cremello, chalky palomino or glossy wild bay. Their names are Poppy and Ollie. I just sold off all my Hermosa conga so I'm offering my set for sale if you would like to keep your conga complete. If they don't sell by their release, I may keep them in hopes of getting either the palomino or cremello set. I'm also offering the collectible stablemate, mini Dandy in my Model Horse Store. We have now seen which color was chosen for Giorgio, or mini Georg through the Premier Club. Not surprisingly it is Anamar inspired rosey dapple grey, which I figured would either be that or the liver chestnut since roan pinto would look a bit weird on a draft horse. I will be keeping this guy for my permanent collection but some people purchased multiple Premier Club memberships, so keep an eye out on model sale pages if you want to add him to your own collection! Finally, there is the new mold for the Stablemate Club this year, Kit, who is supposed to be a Haflinger but appears to have a clipped coat, rather unique for Breyer. I can only remember them doing it one other time with the Strapless from the Fox Hunting gift set. As with Poppy and Ollie, I will be offering mine for sale, however if he doesn't sell by the time he's released, I may end up keeping him. I'm so-so about the mold. There have been lots of standing molds lately and I'm more of an action pose collector, however his color is cute. I'm still waiting on my JAH magazine, unless it was sent to my old address as my first Ellington was. I had to contact Breyer to be sent another. I think that Breyer needs to find a way for club members to verify their current shipping address. I also know that I'm not the only one who has moved within the past year so it definitely would save them money in the long run if they could somehow do this. They got smart with the Premier Club by sending the stablemate with the third model, which makes it so much easier than shipping it to whatever address you used a year ago. Just my thought for the day.
I mentioned this in my last blog post but Ponies and Palm Trees is now going on. After seeing the models, I'm saddened to not get to enter for this event. However, with just purchasing our new house, I didn't think it was a good time to take a vacation. I'm hoping next year, depending upon the location, I can enter. Hoping it's a little closer to the east coast. All the events seem to mostly take place in the opposite corners of the country. If you haven't seen the pamphlet yet, here were the models offered: Oh, that Duende! Golden Sunset is beautiful. I love the golden champagne color that Breyer makes very rarely. The cremello is also pretty even though it's on a vintage mold. The center piece for this event was a bay polo pony on the Smarty Jones mold... kind of saw that one coming! Although Breyer is not known for using molds similar to the theme (as we all know from Breyerfest) I felt like they'd bring back the polo pony version of Smarty Jones somewhere for this theme. I love the pictures and videos people who are there are taking and posting to social media. I'm attending the event through y'all! Although I always write about Breyer starting their Black Friday sale to Collector Club members every year, I almost missed it this year because of how early Breyer decided to have it. By the time I got on, the good stuff was already sold out. I was sad to miss out on Midas, however I did purchase a Lafayette, as I sold off my Hamilton conga last year and regretted selling Lafayette. Here is what was offered for those who are not in the club: I don't know the original prices (if anyone knows feel free to chime in for my readers) but they're usually only about $10 more or so than Breyer's original price. In other words, a whole lot cheaper than what these are going for on the second hand market.
What a cool decorator this guy is! I've been downsizing on the decos in my collection of late but I have to say that this guy is hard to not enter for. This is Kalahari and he's a beautiful African wild dog design, part of the Wild Animal series that Breyer makes as a lottery draw to Collector Club members just once a year. I love the mapped dapples. He is $195 to 750 lucky winners. Good luck to all who enter for him! The stablemate for the Deluxe Collector Club collection for this year, Ellington, is now on his way to current members. He was the pinto Django. On my account there is an order for him but no tracking as of yet. Also, the freebie stablemate for the Ponies and Palm Trees event has been revealed. His name is Delray. For me personally I'm not super impressed with him. I'm shocked they didn't use a more modern mold (I thought Greyson would have been a perfect fit for this event) but I'm sure he'll still be very much sought after just due to his rarity of only 200 pieces made. It's hard to believe that this event is only a week away when it seems like not long ago we were talking about entering for it. So what does that leave us for the rest of the year? Well, we still should have two more lottery models, provided this year is like past years. Most likely they'll be released late November or December when it gets closer to Christmas but it's the winter decorator and the annual non-equine animal. If lotteries aren't your thing, or if you're like me and never get chosen, then we still have the Santa Surprise that's released on Christmas morning to all Collector Club members, while supplies last. We are also still awaiting the arrival of Chadwick, who really should have been here in September or last month, but must be on the slow boat out in the ocean somewhere. I'm really looking forward to him so I'm hoping he gets here soon. We're also waiting for the reveal of the Stablemate Club new mold (not even a picture hint has been given so far this year as to what it could be) and the final release in the Vintage Club.
Still lots more to come, such little time left. We're winding down to the end of the year now. I had a message from a frequent customer saying Brittany, I'd love to partake in your Halloween sale but I don't get paid until Friday and it was such short notice. So... I've decided to extend my Halloween sale until Sunday, November 6th at midnight EST. Not only that but I'm including FREE gifts depending upon how much you order, while supplies last.
*Each $25 purchase will include a FREE Mini Whinnies model *Each $50 purchase will have a FREE stablemate model *Each $100 purchase includes a FREE specialty stablemate (could be Stablemate Club or Breyerfest) *Each $150+ of models will include a FREE Nikolas model in honor of the reveal of the Breyerfest 2023 celebration horse yesterday There is no code to receive your free model, all you have to do is reach the spending limit (shipping not included in price) and it will be included in your box. Only one model per order. Again, this is while supplies last. I will announce if I run out of stock. Thank you for your support! The celebration horse for next year has been announced, and he's a Dutch Harness Horse, or KWPN. The breed is not only common as a carriage horse, as with the celebration model, but also the Amish use them as buggy horses. This is Bravour 54 whose model we will be able to add to our collections come July 2023! Just look at that sweet face! The choice of mold is causing complaints on social media because he looks too similar to last year's celebration horse, but the owner is happy with the mold, and that's all that matters. Personally the breed fits the horse well, although I understand the want for a more modern mold. I think Totilas or Idocus would have been a better fit, but maybe not Idocus since he is also a standing mold similar to Nikolas. Whatever we think though, the mold has been chosen and is what it is. At least they gave the Trakehner the modernized tail. While we won't see the Breyerfest special runs until after the first of the year, we still have club models yet to be revealed. I'm still waiting for Vintage Club to open (hopefully there will be at least one more sneak peek for that club before then) but am holding off on the Stablemate Club until they show the rest of the lineup, usually the last week of the year. Premier Club doesn't usually have any sneak peeks, although last year they did tell us about mini Georg and teased us with Anamar's head so who knows?
