If you've read my previous posts, I bought the Christmas special Breyer offered on their website Christmas day. While I was unpackaging it, I could see through the bubblewrap that it was the one I wanted - Mhyrr the red filigree! However, my excitement was short lived when I realized this... As you can see, Mhyrr's tail fell completely off! I was so disappointed, not just because of the break but also since I didn't get a chance to purchase last year's Christmas special, Holly and Ivy. I wasn't going to blame Breyer until I found out that I wasn't the only one to receive a horse with a broken tail. There were several others also. It was really disappointing for the price paid for these special runs that more care wasn't taken in their packaging. Yes, I know Breyer offered free shipping, but they are just plastic horses, and for $95 they were shipped only in their collectible boxes. I'm still deciding whether or not I will take a gamble on next year's Christmas model if they even offer one after this year. I contacted Breyer and they let me return him. When they sent me a replacement, which I just received today, I was a bit bummed out to find out that it wasn't Mhyrr. They sent me Frankincense. I suppose that's what you get when you purchase a gambler's choice. At least he wasn't broken and he does have a nice coloring with minimal factory flaws. Honestly I wanted either Mhyrr or Frankincense of the three, though I preferred Mhyrr. I was really hoping not to get Gold mostly because I'm biased. I'm still a bit sore that I lost out on Celebration, the silver filigree on the Sherman Morgan mold offered at Breyerfest, but if I would have received Gold then I really would have regretted not getting Celebration since those two would have gone good together in my collection. |
