This is my first year collecting Peter Stones, and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the amount of detail put into these beauties! Everyone is doing their top purchases of the year on social media, so for my top purchases of the year, I have to say that it's probably going to be them. I'm going to share my original herd with you and give you some reasons why I purchased as well as some critics. My first Peter Stone ever was Spindrift from Equilocity 2021. His pattern was so unique that I had to have him, despite foregoing the first online Equilocity the previous year. I don't know why but Spindrift's spots reminded me of shrimp and his plume tail was a unique touch to an already wildly colored horse. I wish Stone would use this mold more often as well, as it isn't too huge compared to future Stones I've purchased, but I still love it just the same. He was limited to 20 pieces and painted by Ellen. One of my all time favorite colors is flaxen chestnut, and this gal fit what I hoped to see of a flaxen chestnut in a model to a tee. Although plain colored, she has very realistic subtle dappling and nice shading in her mane/tail. My particular model didn't have as good of hoof striping as the picture shows but she is still lovely nonetheless. She was limited to 30 pieces and painted by Julie. My first and only (up to this time) Moonlight Madness purchase was Balthazar, a sugar skull that by a stroke of luck of them making 7 copies I was able to get my hands on one, otherwise I probably would have had to fight with the masses to get a sugar skull of any kind. Since I discovered Stones, I've always wanted a sugar skull. I love the gems on their faces. While not my favorite mold or color - y'all know how much I don't care for plain bays - at least I got something and he is glossy so that makes up for the plain bay color a bit. His dapples are nice too, I love horses that are very well dappled over subtle dappling myself, but to each their own. He was painted by Dawn. They released Kringle as a gambler's choice with 15 long mane and 15 short mane. I purchased Kringle in hopes of getting the long mane version, but instead I ended up with the short mane. This guy would have looked better in gloss, I think, as lighter colors tend to "pop" more when glossed. As is, his buff buttermilk coloring barely stands out against his frosted white snowcap rear end. Also the model I was sent didn't have much nose mottling as I'd seen on social media, which I was a bit disappointed about, and I ended up with a finger print in the paint on his legs. This is probably the horse I liked the least from all the ones I purchased. Not the artist's fault, I just didn't really like how the colors blended and how his hooves are solid black like his legs. By the end of the year, my tastes have changed for Peter Stones a bit. I decided to no longer collect normal horse colors, but they must have a decorator aspect to them. This is, after all, what separates Stone from Breyer in that they put a lot of thought into their models. So it is with my last purchase of the year, RMD Balthazar (ironic that he has the same name as my sugar skull) with his dark grey incredibly fish scaled dappling - I love it! - and Christmas colored painted hooves. While it's not too over the top as far as decorators go, a mix of real and deco is what I plan to collect from here on out.
Eventually I'd like to add a bat chip, a shark body design, a brindle and the Easter bunny design if they still do it next year. Hello, all! Don't forget that my End of the Year sale ends tonight at midnight EST. I will be getting back with people about time pays shortly, as I'll be back in Ohio by this afternoon after leaving for Kentucky for a couple job interviews that preoccupied me this week - I know, bad timing. I can't wait to finally hold Spice Drop after my supportive husband took the pictures of her to show me which color I got. I promise to get all sale orders shipped out by Monday so keep an eye on your emails. I still need to sell off quite a bit of stablemates though and although I said earlier that I wasn't offering any discounts on this sale, I do need them gone, so I've decided to offer a FREE shipping discount for today only on purchases over $20 on stablemates using the discount code NEWYEAR. This applies to in hand stablemates only, not to pre-orders. If you haven't seen by now the latest Premier Club news, we're getting a Georg shrinky as the bonus stablemate next year! I'm so incredibly excited about that! He will be a much unneeded new conga. Thanks, Breyer... Another conga I foresee is Stone's new mold for next year. Although stated to be a Gypsy Vanner, I think it looks so much like Emma that I must collect as many as I can get my hands on. I love me some fluff any day. Here is a screenshot from the reveal video: So apparently 2022 has a lot to look forward to. Can you believe it is already New Year's Eve? It won't be much longer before those Breyerfest special runs start being revealed. I hope you all had a great holiday and I look forward to 2022! Happy New Year, everyone!
There was a new Premier Club reveal a couple days ago, the full head shot of the sneak peek we saw earlier. I gotta say it definitely looks Spanish to me now, either another Andalusian or I was thinking a Lipizzan stallion in a levade pose. Would go good with Carina and Selene. Something about the eye screams stallion to me. People were also assuming Mustang, but with just making Fireheart last year, I'm leaning towards another Spanish breed. As much as I personally like Mustangs, having ridden one in my youth, Breyer has made far too many. Here is the picture to speculate on: My Spice Drop arrived today, and I ended up with my favorite color: the red. I really need to play the lottery, as I've been getting most of the colors I've been hoping for in the gambler's choices this year, although I did notice that the red seemed to be the most common on Facebook. With the numbers being 2025 which doesn't divide up evenly into four, it does make me wonder if they made different quantities of each color. While I'm happy to add her to my conga, I do have to say that she looks absolutely nothing like her stock photos in hand. The gold blends with the red and is hardly noticeable, looks more pink or orange than gold. I probably won't conga them for that reason, although thanks to Coal (who was spotted and is confirmed to be also on the Croi mold) I won't be able to get a full conga anyways, but I do eventually hope to get either blue or purple with the silver dappling down the road.
Next up on the roster for the 2022 Stablemates Club models (I'll be updating this post from now on when a new one is revealed) is Jameson the Spotted Drafter. He is made on the G1 Draft Horse sculpture so he's our vintage mold for the year. If you missed the previous two releases, here they are, Dax (the Fighting Stallion) and Miss Phineas: Christmas day brought out our second to last reveal, Shelburne. This cute little guy is a beautiful dappled dun with primitive markings. He is going to be glossy. This means that the Fjord is going to be the gambler's choice. The gambler's choice has been shown, making this the completion of the obligatory 2022 Stablemates Club purchases, minus the new mold which is usually never shown until Breyerfest. The new mold is supposed to be a Haflinger sculpted by the same artist who made Django, a personal favorite of mine, amongst many other collectors. The Fjord gambler's choice comes in four colors: chestnut, rose grey, silver bay and a rainbow decorator similar to Giverny. The optional purchase, aka the model you don't HAVE to buy to stay in the Stablemates Club, is Helios. If we wondered what in the world Breyer was doing with Montana the ram, we sure weren't expecting this. He has that shimmery purple/blue color shifting paint for his markings, mane, tail and horn with a black based body. He is... unique. No doubt about that. Not my personal cup of tea but other collectors seem to like him. For myself, I won't be rejoining the SMCC for next year since the only one I'm interested in is Miss Phineas. For those of you who want to join, you have until December 31st to do so. Remember you MUST join the Collector Club first before you can join the SMCC.
Merry Christmas to all! If you're a Collector Club member, you were able to snag one of these today. Meet Spice Drop: A Croi in silver or gold filigree? Yes, please! Even though she is clearware, I decided to try for one, considering my love of the Croi mold and the fact that I haven't purchased a Santa Surprise in years. Spice sold out in about 10 minutes and the website kept crashing during checkout but I was able to put in my order. Can't wait to see which color I get! This is actually one gambler's choice that I don't really have a stand out favorite. What about you? Did you get one and, if so, who are you hoping to get? There are an additional 12 pieces of coal, as per usual, but only 2025 of the Croi models themselves, so I'm thinking they didn't really increase them much from the 500 pieces that are typically offered for the Santa Surprise, which to me is kind of a shocker considering that they're upping the numbers for everything else. Maybe next year they'll consider increasing it to 750 pieces.
Merry Christmas Eve! Today is the start of my End of the Year sale. I have almost 100 Breyers listed at various prices and rarities. Several models from my Holiday Sale are back up at slightly lowered prices. There are traditional, stablemates and micro minis. Customs I made will be added tomorrow. I have some pins available too, including the new VIP pin shown below: The sale will continue until New Year's Eve, December 31st, or until sell out. Some new models may be added as others sell out, so be sure to check back daily! For myself I had one last surprise show up to my doorstep today... Chalice! This guy was incredibly well made. I was actually shocked at how flawless and detailed he was. Definitely worth the price of the Deluxe membership and now I'm really looking forward to my Django next year! Chalice came in this cute little drawstring bag too. How I miss the days when the Stablemate Club horses came in those. It's a lot more space efficient to store drawstring bags than mini boxes. Don't forget if you're planning on joining any of the club memberships (except the Collector Club) to join before December 31st or you won't be able to join again until the end of next year. If you're a Collector Club member for this year, you should've received this email today: It looks like the Santa Surprise is still on, y'all! Hopefully it'll be something I like this year. Lately it has been either unicorns or clearwares, neither of which I collect, so I haven't bought one in a while. I also noticed that the drawing for Montana has been delayed "due to technical difficulties" so no combined shipping for both him and the Santa Surprise. Hopefully the Santa Surprise will continue following the free shipping trend. I guess we'll find out tomorrow! Good night, everyone!
The long wait is now finally over! Here are your 2022 regular runs: Finally a regular run on Altynai! It feels like we've been waiting forever. With his red bay coat, he looks more like a Thoroughbred than an Akhal Teke, but maybe Breyer will give him a little bit of metallic sheen when he's in hand. When I first saw this horse, I knew people were going to be disappointed in the choice of mold for a Friesian horse. However, the owner of the horse said she chose this mold because she shaves her horse's feet feathers since recovering from laminitis, and I agree that the pose almost captures that picture spot on. I think everyone has been craving a solid black Friesian on the Vermeer mold though. This model was leaked in the JAH annual magazine - that the next Orren Mixer was going to be the palomino - but this is the first time we've seen it in the plastic! I wonder who will be next? Hopefully the appaloosa! My dreams of Breyer making a model of the Phantom versus just Misty have finally come true! Misty's mom and baby Misty are just too adorably cute! I can't wait to add these to my own collection. I foresee this pair being a huge seller since they're the first regular runs on this mold. I do wish they would've used that blue-black paint they used with Omega Fahim last year though. We saw a sneak peek of MorganQuest Native Sun, but here is his official release! I won't be putting up the Halloween horse or holiday horse for pre-orders until a later date, but here they are, for your viewing pleasure: Here is the spring flagship limited edition, Romeo. Twice a year, dealers can get the flagship limited edition if they have a brick-and-mortar store (aka physical location people can go to) because these aren't meant to be sold online. I'm going to have to track down a local flagship dealer because he is a must have for my Dundee conga. Love me some silver bays! I will be making another post regarding the holiday exclusives because there are a couple that I really think you'll like! However, I will be entertaining family throughout this weekend so please forgive my absentness if I don't get to it right away. I've decided to have my New Years sale a bit early this year. I will post models starting this Friday, Christmas Eve, at 5 PM and will go through until December 31st or until sold out. Some of these models will be leftovers from my Holiday Sale at reduced prices and others will be from my personal collection. Please do not order any pre-orderable models (aka the regular runs shown above) with in-hand models since they cannot be shipped together. Thank you, and happy holidays, y'all!
Meet Montana the ram. Some people loved him but the majority seemed to be like what the flip flop? My first impression was that it was strange to be releasing a Halloween decorator for Christmas. My next thought contained images of those elusive black and gold stablemate chase pieces that took me months to find soared through my head. I love all of Breyer's filigree models in all honesty and, in my humble opinion, they don't make enough. I was kind of hoping Montana was a sneak peek of the Santa Surprise and there would be a return of filigrees this year, but nope. Just another lottery draw. I'm thinking the bull was just a micro run and not the annual winter animal decorator after all, just like Cornelius from a few years ago, so I'm assuming that Montana is actually our animal deco. They made a whopping 490 of him so anyone who enters may have a good chance because he seems so unpopular. He is only up for entries until December 22nd. Winners will be selected the next day on December 23rd. If you're picked it may be possible to combine shipping with the Santa Surprise, provided they actually have one this year. For me personally I haven't bought one since the filigrees stopped years ago because they're either unicorns or clearware, neither of which I collect. On a side note, if you entered for Bunyan, check your email, as winners were chosen today. Most of them ended up for sale, it seems, which saddens me due to his rather limited release, but hopefully the people who truly want him will buy him and he'll fall into permanent collections. Are there even still black hole collectors out there anymore?
Don't forget about Peter Stone's final days of their Christmas event. Almost everything has been released minus Ayios from the Christmas Around the World series and Home for the Holidays, Hans Peter and Let Mint Snow from the 12 Days of Christmas series. Most of them are sold out by now minus Daidi (both sizes), traditional San Fernando, non-custom Pere Noelle, RMD Balthazar and I Spotted Santa. Santa's Iced Sugar Cookies says it's part of a series of OOAKs, and this being the first time I followed Stone's Christmas event, I'm not quite sure what that means. I thought it meant he was going to be a OOAK but they released the OOAKs last weekend and he wasn't part of it, unless they're going to be releasing more. Either way, unfortunately for me, my Stone shopping is done for the year. Just in time for Christmas, I received two packages today, one with Twist and the other from Stone with my Christmas Around the World choice, Kringle. Both arrived safely and will be cherished members of my permanent collection. Twist is a heavy little guy and a beast of a stablemate. Mine had lots of roaning, which I was happy about, and the rabicano striping gives me hope that maybe one day we'll see a brindle in the SMCC lineup. How cool would that be? He has a bit of white at the tip of his tail which many people were confusing for rubs. Just a heads up... they are supposed to be there and is a common marking on Arabian horses. My Stone horse, Kringle, was the first I bought on this mold. Though I didn't care what mane I got, I ended up with the short mane version. I'm not sure how I feel about the mold itself. He is SUPER HEAVY but he kind of needs to be because he is also tippy so the extra weight seems to help hold him down, so long as you don't bump him too hard. He's not Breyer pacer tippy, as he does stand, he's just wobbly on the one side. Given his size, both heaviness and length, I don't ever see him selling for under $389.99 no matter the simplicity of the paint job. His paint job is pretty flawless, though his artist did leave her fingerprint smudged on his leg. I consider it her signature :) He has mottling around his nose, eyes and *eh hum* bits, which gives him a more realistic look. I do wish the hooves were shaded and not just jet black like his legs but he is very beautiful nonetheless. Those eyes are just amazing. I bought RMD Balthazar from the 12 Days of Christmas series because I also don't have one on that mold and I'm a sucker for dark dapple greys. The blinged hooves were cool too (and did I mention she was like the only one that didn't sell out in 2 seconds?) so this completes my Stone horse spending for the year and I'll officially have two Balthazars. As with Kringle, I'll share her when she arrives. As a bit of a personal story, I'm happy to say that my real horse and one of my rescues, Zelda, whom I thought would never find a permanent home due to her behavior from being abused (she was much much worse when we got her last spring but was still denied by several people because she still has a few nervous habits like being buddy sour) has finally met her match and will have a new home for Christmas! I'm going to miss her but I'm excited that she'll be going to a good home. The lady adopting her is a trainer so you can't get much better than that for a quirky horse like her. However, I have to watch my model horse spendings for a while from now on since this will make Ace our only horse, so we're planning on possibly picking up another horse from the local Amish auction by the end of the month as a buddy for him. Thankfully Ace gets along with just about everyone. I would love to rescue more from the slaughter pipeline but our current barn here in Ohio only has two stalls. The contractor for our Kentucky home hasn't even started building yet with so many other people ahead of us trying to get moved in by Christmas so our move in date has been pushed back. As with Stones, it's going to be so hard choosing just one to save.
While we await the official release of the 2022 regular runs, here is something to tide y'all over... While I doubt that this horse will be in retail stores by January given the ongoing shipping issues, nonetheless this is our first traditional leak for the 2022 regular runs. He is Morganquest Native Sun, a coppery liver chestnut that Breyer is portraying on the Troubadour mold and will be our first regular run on the mold. Another reveal today was for Miss Phineas, who will be the first Stablemate Club model for 2022. It does appear that Breyer is going to show all the SMCC releases except for the new mold, who is always kept hush hush. We did get the hint though that it's going to be a Haflinger. This gal is a star dapple grey on the new Prince Charming mold. She is a breath of fresh air, as this colorway hasn't been seen since they last made it as a regular run on the Arabian mold in 2014. The shading blends together nicely on this boy and the star dapples are more blended versus the tic-tac-toe look of the previous Arabian. I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to be rejoining the SMCC yet. I'll wait and see what the rest of the runs look like first.
