Breyer said we'd get our first 2022 Breyerfest model reveal by the end of this month, and they delivered! Meet Nikolas, a German Riding Pony owned by the same owner as Jazzman, the Morgan also portrayed by Breyer as a regular run. Nikolas gets a new mold for next year, sculpted by the same artist of the first Premier Club release of 2022, Brigitte Eberl. It is very fitting that they used a German artist to sculpt a German breed, in my opinion, since after all the theme is Prost! This is the fifth time a new sculpture has debuted as a celebration model: Rejoice, Alborozo, Roxy and the Marchador were the others. So what do y'all think of this guy? What other breeds could he be used for? I could definitely see him as a Connemara Pony in future because a lot of people considered the Connemara Mare (Croi) mold far too showy so this guy would be a good replacement, and I'm sure if they ever needed to make a Connemara Mare they could make "alterations" to the gender like they did with so many other molds. However, how do you guys feel about a pony mold being used as the celebration horse? Looking at the picture above, he looks pretty leggy, but looking at the picture of Jamie holding him below, he looks rather small. Tell me in the comments! While I was hopeful that Georg would be used for Breyerfest next year since he should be as a German Rhendish draft mold, however with him being used as a Collector Club special run, I'm beginning to feel a bit less hopeful. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean he won't be used, but it's not too common for models used the same year for something else (aka regular runs, limited editions and special runs) that they also are used for Breyerfest. Again, not impossible, just typical. Also, since he was already used as a special run in 2020, it hasn't been that long since he was a part of Breyerfest. Still, I'm crossing my fingers we'll see Georg in the lineup. One can never have enough Georg models.
Who else are we likely to see in the lineup? While it's far too early for speculation since the first model reveals likely won't be until after the first of the year, I personally would also like to see Idocus make a comeback. He looked really good on Wapiti, who is currently the only model I have on this mold. I would like to see a Black Forest horse finally made on a Breyer. We had Markus who was a Black Forest cross as a flagship release years ago. I think Goffert would fit the bill perfectly, but I know he's kind of a yesterday's news mold by now. The Aegidienberger could be made on the Icelandic mold since the two breeds are both known for the tolt gait. Of course they may not even stick to German breeds, but rather random horses named after German traditions, like with the India and Brazil themes. We'll just have to wait and see what the creative minds at Breyer come up with for us!

Being a pony, he does look a little small. My mom loves the horse, but she doesn't like the model as much.

I love the celebration mold. Super happy it’s a new Eberl mold too. My only criticism it’s a standing model I would have preferred a performance friendly trotting model. As for being a pony and smaller than usual for a celebration model I am not bothered.

I love his color, but I don't know if he'll stay in my permanent herd. I'll have to wait to see him in hand, I do hope they do a draft mold of some kind this coming here. Germany has so many different draft breeds to choose from. Would also love to see historical model of some kind. Something to do with the history of Germany itself. My personal votes for molds that will appear are the 3 new premieres from this year, Idocus, Roy (I'm dreaming I know 🤣), and maybe Salinero with an Othello suprise!

I thought for sure it would be another draft horse for the celebration horse since it has been awhile since there was a draft celebration horse. I thought the georg mold would be used for the celebration horse based off that, but this guy is pretty cute and it is nice to see a pony celebration horse. The only way i could see georg being used for next year is either as a guest horse portrait model or as a raffle, he will definitely not be a special run again anytime soon would be my guess.

Not in love with this mold, it just looks so basic. I immediately thought of the Snowman mold (can't remember his original name atm) when I saw it. My feelings will probably change though once I see him in person. Comments are closed.
