Just in time for Christmas, I received two packages today, one with Twist and the other from Stone with my Christmas Around the World choice, Kringle. Both arrived safely and will be cherished members of my permanent collection. Twist is a heavy little guy and a beast of a stablemate. Mine had lots of roaning, which I was happy about, and the rabicano striping gives me hope that maybe one day we'll see a brindle in the SMCC lineup. How cool would that be? He has a bit of white at the tip of his tail which many people were confusing for rubs. Just a heads up... they are supposed to be there and is a common marking on Arabian horses. My Stone horse, Kringle, was the first I bought on this mold. Though I didn't care what mane I got, I ended up with the short mane version. I'm not sure how I feel about the mold itself. He is SUPER HEAVY but he kind of needs to be because he is also tippy so the extra weight seems to help hold him down, so long as you don't bump him too hard. He's not Breyer pacer tippy, as he does stand, he's just wobbly on the one side. Given his size, both heaviness and length, I don't ever see him selling for under $389.99 no matter the simplicity of the paint job. His paint job is pretty flawless, though his artist did leave her fingerprint smudged on his leg. I consider it her signature :) He has mottling around his nose, eyes and *eh hum* bits, which gives him a more realistic look. I do wish the hooves were shaded and not just jet black like his legs but he is very beautiful nonetheless. Those eyes are just amazing. I bought RMD Balthazar from the 12 Days of Christmas series because I also don't have one on that mold and I'm a sucker for dark dapple greys. The blinged hooves were cool too (and did I mention she was like the only one that didn't sell out in 2 seconds?) so this completes my Stone horse spending for the year and I'll officially have two Balthazars. As with Kringle, I'll share her when she arrives. As a bit of a personal story, I'm happy to say that my real horse and one of my rescues, Zelda, whom I thought would never find a permanent home due to her behavior from being abused (she was much much worse when we got her last spring but was still denied by several people because she still has a few nervous habits like being buddy sour) has finally met her match and will have a new home for Christmas! I'm going to miss her but I'm excited that she'll be going to a good home. The lady adopting her is a trainer so you can't get much better than that for a quirky horse like her. However, I have to watch my model horse spendings for a while from now on since this will make Ace our only horse, so we're planning on possibly picking up another horse from the local Amish auction by the end of the month as a buddy for him. Thankfully Ace gets along with just about everyone. I would love to rescue more from the slaughter pipeline but our current barn here in Ohio only has two stalls. The contractor for our Kentucky home hasn't even started building yet with so many other people ahead of us trying to get moved in by Christmas so our move in date has been pushed back. As with Stones, it's going to be so hard choosing just one to save.

Congratulations for Zelda!! Amish sales are one of the best places to pick up rescues, some treat their horses well, but not most. My two dear boys were both Amish rescues. Comments are closed.
