First off I wanted to announce that Justify has been released! If you have not seen him yet, he is available in both traditional and stablemates sizes, as well as a collectible ornament. The sash of Triple Crown flowers is available only with the traditional sized model. Rumor has it that there will be another Justify model on a NEW mold next year on resin, just like they did with American Pharoah. Below is a sneak peek of what he'll look like... This horse's name is Celeste. She is the Collector Club special run for fall. In accordance to autumn colors, she is a beautiful silver bay. I love her coloring and am looking forward to adding her to my collection. Test run horses are available only to Collector Club members, and only ONE is made, so the chances of being chosen are astronomical. Even if you ARE the lucky one that's chosen, you have to cough up $850 in order to receive it. For this reason, I don't often post the test run pieces, however this one is real eye candy. I entered but I'm not expecting to win. Bay roan is one of my favorite colors and looks amazing on the Zippo Pine Bar mold! For all you unicorn lovers, you'll really like this set. This is Sirius & Vega. They were made as Breyer's yearly Classics web exclusive. They made quite a few web exclusive unicorns in the past and then tried trailing off to regular horses, but now seem to be going back to the unicorn craze. The regular horses must not have been as popular. Anyways these guys will be available to the public after November 6th so if you like them keep your eye out for them. Breyer just released Wish and Wonder which I'm assuming is the mare and foal set made around this time each year. They are Chincoteague ponies and are a very flashy pair. The mare is a dapple grey and the foal is a medicine hat sooty buckskin. Both are chalky. They were $49.95 and came with a drawstring collectible bag. I'm really looking forward to these two coming out, as they are a breed that I collect. Ok so I know this isn't a fall 2018 release but it has just been revealed that the Breyerfest 2019 celebration model isn't the palomino Saddlebred shown in the picture above (which is what I first thought when I saw the banner) but is instead Oliver who is the beautiful black pinto Shire mix police horse shown below. It is a mystery who the palomino is at this time - maybe a possible store special or special run? Or possibly even a 2019 regular run who will be attending Breyerfest? Hopefully we'll find an answer soon.
Several new releases are coming out this holiday season through Breyer, most of them set to be out this fall. The top of the line up is Sugarmaple, a clearware traditional horse on the Show Jumper mold. He is being limited to only 3,000 pieces. The next horse is Markus, the fall 2017 flagship edition that is to be sold solely at Brick-and-Mortar stores. He is a silver bay Black Forest/Shire cross made on the Shire gelding mold and is also limited to 3,000 pieces. Then there are the Tractor Supply special runs. The first is Jacy, a light grey Quarter Horse with minimal shading on the Geronimo mold. The second is Lakota, a dappled palomino Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred cross on the Black Beauty mold. Personally I was a bit surprised and disappointed that they made Lakota on the Black Beauty mold, which is known not to stand very well. Finally, meet Goblin, the Halloween horse in Classics size. She is on the new Harper mold and glows purple in the dark. She has "Halloween 2017" written on her belly. She is an online exclusive only.
Breyer has extended their FREE shipping for this weekend, starting today, so if you missed out on FREE shipping last weekend, now is your chance to get it again! I scoped up their daily deal today, which was on Foiled Again. I'm not fond of the mold but he is a portrait model of a much beloved racehorse of mine and was on sale at a really good deal, plus you got his stablemate model FREE with him and FREE shipping! I'm not sure how many of the stablemates were made but they gave them out at the Hambletonian with each child admission. In other news, Breyer held some good deals this past weekend that I took advantage of. For Collector Club members, they offered Charlie from the Vintage Club. She was available for $145 and I snagged her while I could. Now I'm happy that I did. She is beautiful in real life and I don't have an appaloosa in my herd. I also bought the three mare and foal sets with Breyer's FREE shipping offer. I really wish that Vixen and Blitzen were dappled bay pintos or at least give them tri-colored eyes. I had this mold once and actually the remake of it looked a little smaller, but otherwise I'm happy with these two. They are better looking in real life than their picture on Breyer's website shows. Eve and Claus were my favorites. I really love their coloring. If I had to choose one of the three sets, I was going to just get this one. Luckily I had enough for all of them. When I saw these two online, I thought these were probably the ones I would like the least, but actually they turned out to be my favorite of the three sets. I love the shaded coloring on the mare and the foal is adorable too, but it was the beautiful realistic dappling on the mare that sold me with them.
I just joined the Collector Club (I know, I know... long time coming) when they were offering their Collector Club appreciation deal and they have already released a special run! This year's special runs are named Holly and Ivy. For $90 they are limited to 300 pieces total - so 150 of each color - making them really rare. Guess what? My funds are already wiped out from Christmas so I was unable to get one. I'm a bit bummed out about that because I joined the Collector Club to have access to limited edition models and I can't even buy the first one offered to me. At least I have Abdul to look forward to in the spring.
I took advantage of the Black Friday special Breyer was running over the weekend and bought the entire line of Zodiac classics, which are technically web specials since they are sold only through Breyer's website. I originally wanted to only buy the Zodiac models corresponding to my children however the deal was too good to pass up to get all 12 for only $14.95 each so I decided to buy the lot. I will keep the Zodiacs of my children then maybe gift the rest to family and sell some on eBay since I'm more a traditional sized collector and not classics.
This being said all of them looked pretty amazing, much better than the pictures. Gloss doesn't look good on all models but it goes well with these, I guess because they are decorators. My Zodiac is Leo and his Breyer model is absolutely stunning! I love the fact that he is also done on one of my favorite classic molds, the American Quarter Horse Stallion. The one thing that I didn't like is how the horses were boxed. Normally with special runs through Breyer's website they only give you a mail order box so I'm happy they came in some kind of collectible box, however these ones do not have plastic on them to display the horse. They are completely cardboard and do not have a label as to which one is inside so you have to open up each box to see which horse you got. I had to circle the one that was in it. It was kind of fun since you never knew which Zodiac you would open next but if I sell a few I will have to sell them as open box which may decrease their value a bit. This is the first time I've bought an entire series so I'm pretty excited to own them, even if only for a short while. |
