Just like how quickly Honeybunch sold out last year being on the Emma mold, so did Gingerbread. He is already sold out, and "he" actually turned out to be a "she". That's right, folks! Breyer made Gingerbread a mare. Lots of people were complaining of flaws with this gal, and I was one of them who ended up with a flawed model. The model I was sent had a huge goober stuck to the side of her face. In a way it makes her unique, as it looks almost like a human beauty mark. Can't get perfect ponies every time, I guess. Her coloring is still very pretty with some slight metallic shimmer. The annual holiday horse, Arctic Grandeur, is also here and the last round of pre-orders were shipped off to their new homes today. This guy, like Cirrus, is pearly as well but he is much darker shaded, almost a steely grey. I actually like medium to dark greys so he'll fit well into my collection. I have all the holiday horses since I began collecting in 2007 starting with Wintersong. Here is a picture of Arctic, with and without tack: Finally, the unicorn set has landed, and my first ever on this mold. I don't really understand the complaints with this set (other than factory flaws, of course) when I was just happy to get a set of these two at cost. The mare of the pair I ended up was mostly white with light blue shading. There was hardly any pink except around her muzzle and eyes. Her foal color shifts between blue and black under the light. He is adorable. They both are, really, and as much as I'd love Breyer to stop adding a horn to everything, I do think this pair were kind of destined to be unicorns. It has been a lovely holiday season so far. If you're in the Vintage Club, the gambler's choice, Nugget, as well as the vintage stablemate and optional purchase Dusk and Dawn are now available for pre-order. Since Breyer's vintage decorator colors aren't something I collect, both of the traditionals are going to new homes, as well as the stablemate since I don't usually keep those anyways, so those who pre-ordered them keep on the lookout... they should be arriving within a couple weeks to you :)
I'm hoping we'll see Astrid soon, and I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned anything of Chalice, the Deluxe stablemate model who was supposed to be shipped in the fall this year. Although we're winding down to the end of the year, there's still so much to look forward to! It's officially November, and though the Collector Club newsletter was sent a few days ago, I apologize for now just getting around to it. My holiday collection arrived (all except the Advent calendars) so I was busy getting my pre-ordered ponies packaged and ready to be shipped. All of them will be on their way this week, along with the ornaments. Again, calendar people unfortunately will have to wait a bit longer. First, before we get to the October newsletter, I did want to share some upcoming new releases revealed in the Just About Horses (JAH) annual magazine. If you would like to have one and aren't in the club, I do have an extra that will be for sale in my store. The first release, which was actually just shown on the website today under coming soon, is a web special named Baltazar. Kind of ironic after I just bought a horse from Peter Stone with almost the same name... I may just have to get his completely unrelated mini me. Breyer's Baltazar is pink and blue clearware with a blowing snowflake pattern in gold. Another upcoming holiday release we should be seeing soon is Snickerdoodle. A cute palomino pony, he come with a blanket and reindeer ears, as well as a doll in pajamas. Snickerdoodle will be a web exclusive, not available to dealers, so you'll have to purchase her directly off Breyer's website if you want her. I'm in love with the Welsh Mare mold and am looking forward to adding Snickerdoodle to my own pony collection. I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention of a fall Collector Club release. I guess everyone is still wondering where in the world their first release is (those of you who ordered Lafayette that haven't received him yet are surely nodding your heads) but we do usually have two CC releases, and this is the second... Brunhilde. He appears to be a wild bay, almost mule colored, on the Wixom mold. Though I'm not typically a plain bay horse collector, I have to say that if the horse is really shaded this way with the lovely dapples shown, I may be tempted. So another well known dealer had these random stablemates for sale. They were meant to be sent to the French speaking parts of Canada, hence the bags had French writing on them. Collectors were scooping them up, and honestly I have no idea how this said dealer got hold of them... maybe Breyer sent them to them to give them something to sell like they did me with the retired Mini Whinnies? Well apparently Breyer will be repackaging these same stablemates for Walmart, and this will be our mysterious series 5 blind bags that we've been waiting for forever. I'm assuming by the end of the year they'll start popping up in stores, since they're on the same page as the TSC exclusives. Here they are, for those of you who haven't seen them yet. There is also going to be a new series of mini whinnies. I honestly like the colors of these a lot better than the original colors on these new molds. I really love that bay roan drafter, it looks like a mini me to the stablemate version above. Now we'll finally get to the Collector Club newsletter. The free giveaway was one I actually entered for... Luna! Anyone remember her? She was made as a web special way back in 2012. It's actually surprising they even have any of her left at the warehouse. Running with Wolves is what I would name her if I win her, but we all know that'll never happen because I'm just not that lucky. I do love anything that glows in the dark, and being on a racehorse mold doesn't hurt! By the way, is anyone tired of Captcha? I gotta admit that doing it every single time I log onto Breyer is starting to wear on me. This, guys, is why I will never have a Shopify account. The sneak peek for the newsletter was a blue horse with absolutely no indication as to the mold. Well played, Breyer. Well played. I'm assuming this is going to be the yearly holiday raffle mold, although we also still have a holiday animal mold coming up sometime soon too. I will get around to doing a post about the holiday ponies, including a review of the already sold out Gingerbread pony, I promise. This week has also been busy at my work place in preparation for the holiday season since I work for a shipping company. I will be working six days starting this week until after Black Friday so bear with me if my posts become a bit more infrequent. I wish I could make selling Breyers a full time job, but unfortunately this year has been so hectic with the shipping delays that I haven't had much to sell, and so this year has definitely been the slowest holiday season thus far for my little shop.
