Big news, y'all! The Premier Club mare and foal set have been revealed, and boy are they stunning! I was super happy to see a draft set being made for the first time in 50 years, according to Breyer, but also the fact that these two are incredibly flashy. The mare is a sooty buckskin pinto with cat tracks and kissy spots. The foal is a palomino pinto. This is the first of the 2023 Premier Club releases that will be coming home with me, and I'm just honestly glad that I'll want one. I was worried after the release of Cancion (not flashy enough for my collection) and Adonis (super flashy but I don't collect rearing molds) that I wouldn't like the coloring of the final release. If you're not part of the Premier Club this year and haven't seen Rhiannon and Rhemi yet, here they are: Akilah will be riding along with this set... a heads up to those who presale her. If you want to keep the Premier Club stablemate, be sure to have them shipped to you first. She is the mini Zafirah stablemate that we've found out will be coming in both matte and glossy, of which I'm really hoping to get the glossy version, as I'm hoping it'll be the same for whichever Cancion model you pre-ordered, but we'll see. To those not in the Premier Club but are in the Collector Club, Jota will finally be making his appearance. We've be waiting for him since Breyerfest, and he is going to be available tomorrow. Here is the picture I took of him at Breyerfest if you're on the fence: To me, this guy looked like a Halloween horse with his phantom face and black eyes that looked kind of like a blind horse's eye sockets. The creepy look appealed to me, but since I just sold off my SMO conga, I will not be adding him to my personal collection. However, I do plan on adding the purple pinto unicorn mare and foal draft set to my collection, as they are now available on Breyer's website.
Collector Club memberships for 2024 are now open on Breyer's website. If you're a current member, you can wait until the end of the year to renew, as you have until December 31, 2023 to join for next year. While I had planned to rejoin anyways, Breyer had to reel just about the entire collecting world when they decided to shrink Othello and will be offering the following stablemate and pin with the Deluxe membership: The Deluxe membership for current Collector Club members is $65. If you aren't yet in the Collector Club but want to be one for next year and have the option to join the specialty clubs for 2024 (the Stablemate, Vintage or Premier Club) it is $75. The mini Othello stablemate and pin will be shipped later in 2024. If you are in the small percentage of collectors that don't want the mini Othello, you don't need to pay for the Deluxe membership. Renewal for the regular membership is $30 for current members or those who don't want to join the specialty clubs for 2024, or $40 for new members with the option to join the 2024 clubs. Both clubs: the regular and Deluxe will have the opportunity to purchase Heath, the spring special run offered only to Collector Club members. He is also on the Othello mold and in a beautiful strawberry roan sabino color. Sadly, I just sold off my Othello conga last year because I thought Breyer was pretty much done using the mold. Now I'm regretting it a bit, although I still plan to get Heath regardless. Maybe I'll do what I did with Georg and like the little guys better. My biggest question, with the shrinking of Othello, who will be next?
The Stablemate Club gambler's choice, Virkie, is now available for club members to purchase. If you didn't sign up for the club last year, unfortunately you will not be able to purchase this model directly from Breyer. You could get one of four following colors on the Shetland Pony mold: bay leopard appaloosa, black splash pinto, dapple seal brown and black rainbow filigree decorator. All are glossy this year. This only leaves the Vintage Club optional mold (the black Morgan this year) which you do not have to purchase; the Premier Club mare and foal set that will most likely come with the freebie stablemate, the mini Show Stance Arabian mare; the new mold in the Stablemate Club pictured below who we don't yet know the name of or color; and the optional Stablemate Club release, Nero, on the Georg mold. I know a lot of people have been asking if I plan to keep any of the remaining club models, or sell them. So far, until I see the colors of the PC release and the SMCC new mold, the only one I'm set on keeping is Nero for my mini Georg conga. I won't know for sure if I keep the others until I see them. The VC Morgan and mini Show Stance Arabian stablemate have already been pre-sold. I'm not sure what the new Stablemate Club mold is, breed wise. I'm assuming either a Mustang or other Spanish breed, with his rearing stance that looks similar to Desatado and long, flowing mane. There was no sneak peek of him at Breyerfest, so what do y'all think? Me thinks he's going to be a good one if Breyer is keeping him a secret. As to color though, I'm thinking he's going to be solid simply because the only solid colored horses this year were the Arabian mare and foal set. Personally I'd love to see a nice dapple grey in the lineup again!
The winter releases have been revealed, although a date of when these beautiful horses will be available has NOT yet been released. I think this is an exciting lineup, as I'm looking forward to several of them. First up is a new advent calendar. This is a regular run so not a web exclusive. Although the grey and bay roan draft have been used before, it includes several new Mini Whinnies sized horses from the set from last year, including an appaloosa and blue roan jumper. The first of the web only releases is Hyacinth and Wisteria. They are the mare and foal annual set. I'm still a bit saddened that Breyer went from realistic horse colors for this series to unicorns, but I'm actually excited for purple horses, as purple is my favorite color. If you recognize the patterns of them, you aren't alone. The pattern of the mare is very similar to Pepper from Breyerfest, while the pattern on the foal is similar to regular run, Shadow. I like how they made the foal slightly lighter in shading. The Pony for Christmas this year is Mittens, a cute palomino and white Shetland Pony. Since I don't collect this mold, I'm personally going to skip this one, but she is cute nonetheless. As per usual, she comes with a blanket (so her pattern under the blanket is a complete surprise) and a collectible box. The pony set (which includes a doll and holiday props) is the Pony Snow Day with a beautiful silver dun Fjord on the Henry mold. When Breyer released this color on the new Fjord Mare mold, I'd hoped they'd eventually replicate the color on the older Fjord mold. The plush snowman is also cute. The annual Classics unicorn web exclusive is Nimbus. Although this is a series I don't collect, those who do will find his blue and gold color to be out of this world, literally, as he is named after the clouds. Last, but certainly not least, is the Classics winter decorator web exclusive, Wintergreen. Similar to the splash decorator, Neva, from last year, this horse is a clearwear this time with swirling snow. She is pretty cool, and I'll probably purchase her. All of the above models will be available exclusively through Breyer's website, except for the advent calendar. You do not need to be a club member to purchase them.
