No single day tickets yet but we did get another sneak peek today. To me these two look like stablemates: The photo on the left looks almost exactly like Mirado's coloring from the Stablemate Club a few years ago (and seriously ANOTHER grey?) while the other looks like a black shoulder. I first thought Greyson, but since they've already used him, probably not. Speculation from either prize models or pop-up store specials were posted to social media so I guess we'll see.
Breyer has confirmed that the BF SR line will work similarly to what they did for the Seattle Soiree. You'll choose your models in order from most wanted to least wanted between June 1-June 14 and submit your choices PER TICKET. So if you have multiple tickets, you'll need to make your choices for every ticket. Then, come July, they'll randomly generate the line. They'll give you the next top two choices from your list, depending upon what's left when your number in "line" is drawn. For example if you have Oak, Lugh, the surprise and Boudicca at the top of your list but Oak and the surprise were already sold out, you'll automatically receive Lugh and Boudicca. It's up to you whether you want to actually purchase them or not. You don't have to, but then if you don't you've just wasted your ticket. I think this method is fair as possibly as similar to real life as you can make it. Like with actual BF it's the luck of the draw. Unlike with actual BF, if you have more than one ticket, you might get drawn for the same model twice. That's the only downfall to the virtual system. Premier Club members are still (impatiently) awaiting the release of Altynai, who is supposed to be coming out this month. I'm over the moon excited at my first PC horse direct from Breyer! Hopefully he and the single day tickets will go on sale soon! So much happened today while waiting for the virtual Triple Crown derby, which I'd like to share with fellow enthusiasts. My first stop today on a hunt to track down some derby appetizers because, virtual or not, the Derby is still a big thing here (our neighbors even let off fireworks afterwards) allowed me to make a pit stop to the toy aisle where, lo and behold, were the series 3 unicorns! Unfortunately there were three missing from the box when I counted them. DRAT! I thought for sure the local bag ripper got to them before me, but apparently it was just kids choosing random horses because I discovered this: I nearly squealed! Ironically I had bought a grape soda whilst at the store because the stores had some in 20 oz bottles in the checkout line. Maybe it was a sign? This was my second favorite chase model next to only the black and gold Magnolia that I never found when they were released. I don't think the blind bag craze is as big as it was when it first came out, but I still find myself being beat to the punch most times by our local bag ripper, who always buys the entire box and takes back whatever they don't want. I'm really surprised Walmart accepts them back opened. While at Walmart, I also found the new palomino Mirado and liver chestnut Gypsy Vanner but unfortunately the black and white Paint was missing. I'm thinking a spotted horse probably appealed more to children so they just sold out, especially since the horses missing out of the series 3 box were the purple Clydesdales (which there wasn't a single one of in the box) so I think it's safe to assume that BR hadn't been there yet. Anyways, speaking of that black and gold Magnolia chaser, I managed to score one on the virtual Clarion Facebook page. Never in a million years would I have thought about owning her, but she's now part of my herd. I don't want to admit the price I paid to get her but at least she's here, and she completes my conga of wanted Magnolias. Another arrival in the mail today was my Nayati. I ended up with the Appaloosa... again. Don't get me wrong, I love appaloosas in real life, it's just that whenever there is an appy in the gambler's choice, I always seem to end up with it. Of course Calvin was unavoidable since they were all appaloosas, but with Scotty, Lancelot and now Nayati I ended up with an appaloosa just like with the Santa Surprise I always end up with green. Breyer must either think it's my favorite color or I should play the lottery. To be fair, Nayati the appaloosa is a lot prettier in real life than he looked in stock photos. Whether intentionally or not, he looks just like a miniature of Jackpot. I still don't know what to make of the large amount of white, which I don't typically like on my models, but it does look good in gloss. I also like his lightning stripes on his legs, his striped hooves, his bi-colored tail and the pinking. I think I'm going to keep him. I am going to enjoy my new additions while we wait for the virtual derby to be run and single day tickets to go on sale next week. Have a great weekend, everyone!
That sneak peek of the green fairy horse that Breyer released? Well, here is the full reveal: Simply named Greenman, this jolly green giant is not surprisingly yet another draft to the Celtic lineup. Still not a fan of it personally, even after seeing the full reveal, but the mold choice is what did it in for me. The lack of muscling on this guy is a main reason I didn't like it. But hey, to each their own, and I am happy they returned to the deco colors for the annual Classics model instead of the plain black horse they did last year for the RCMP. As a suggestion, maybe they should make a deco and realistic colored Classics horse each year for Breyerfest?
In other news, Breyer is offering a sale this weekend on all their racehorse models. Not only are regular runs included, but they also have a lot of Breyerfest leftovers from their Off to the Races theme with excellent prices! I was half tempted to purchase another Dead Heat to try for the chestnut but decided against it on the off chance that they're flawed or come without stands like the ones in the store at Breyerfest. Instead I just got the Classics deco, Born to Run. These were the Breyerfest goodies included in the sale: |
